Josephine Larson, Hall, Henson and her daughter, Josephine Henson and her adopted son, Bill Hall (with the hat), with her brother's family in New York. (I believe this is Johan Petter, who went by John, because he appears to be younger.) Bill Hall was born to Essie but was raised by Essie's mother, Josephine Hall Henson.

Tooele Ward Records L.D.S. film 027367 show blessing of daughter Josephine and Joseph Henson as father.
LeJeune Brixen Dillman, granddaughter, said her gandmother was blinded in one eye as a child--aparently not an accident. She and her husband William were planning to come to America with their children. Her husband got very sick when they arrived at the port town, so they returned home where he soon died. She still sailed to America with her children, landing in New York, where she stayed with a relative before coming to Tooele on the train with her kids. She spoke no English when she arrived, but went door to door saying, “Verk,” and was able to support her family until she married an older man, Joseph Henson, whom she had worked for. She had 2 children with him. The last child, Melvine, died at one month. She broought her daughter Josephine to Salt Lake after she completed the 8th grade, and arranged for her to spend one year learning the art of cosmetology and nails at Hotel Utah, a very fancy hotel. Later in life Josephina lost her hair due to a disease called irisipilis and wore a wig. She also had very thick fingernails (1/4” thick) due to the chemicals she worked with in the laundry room of St. Mark’s Hospital on Beck Street in SLC.
